\n<\/p>\n

Karma<\/strong> is a new brand from the much respected distillery, \u201cTequila el Viejito\u201d (NOM 1107).\u00a0 Th\u2019 Lip<\/strong> was taken on a circular ride through Karma\u2019s <\/strong>flavor profile and happily found that a lot of the flavor properties of the silver<\/strong> made their way into the reposado<\/strong>.\u00a0 Watch, as Lippy<\/strong> investigates a deeper look into his own tequila-centric life, and finds a soft chewy center.\u00a0 Also note the side x side reposado tasting between Karma<\/strong> & fellow \u201cViejito\u201d brand, Trader Joe\u2019s Distinqt<\/strong> repo.\u00a0 Ah, the duality of tequila and life.<\/p>\n

GENERAL TASTING NOTES:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Karma<\/strong> features a combination of both double (80%) and triple (20%) distilled tequila.\u00a0 This interplay sets up a source silver<\/strong> that is at once smooth but still presenting a soft tang of agave.\u00a0 The initial attack of the blanco is an alcohol-acetone whirlpool on the mid palate that finishes with a bit of white pepper and a dollop of soft vanilla on the back palate.\u00a0 The finish is pure spice with some lingering alcohol warmth.\u00a0 Pleasing and drinkable all night (if a bit predictable after a while).\u00a0 One of the great features of Karma<\/strong> in both its ages is the thick and chewy mouth feel.\u00a0 This keeps the tequila interesting throughout your tasting \u201csession.<\/p>\n

The reposado<\/strong> brings the introduction of sweet oak and bit of tropical mango dipped in vanilla.\u00a0 All of the features of the silver <\/strong>are active and present in the repo, making for a nicely \u201cseasoned\u201d ride through the woody tropics that make up the Karma<\/strong> flavor profile.\u00a0 Lippy<\/strong> was a bit bored by the alcohol cloud which remained present on the attack of the repo (the one flavor detail that should have not made the transition from the silver<\/strong>) but was happy to linger on the additional flavor details that the repo added to the overall taste and feel of the source blanco.<\/p>\n

Karma<\/strong> is priced in the mid-range of the market and is a solid \u201cbuy\u201d \u2013 especially the repo.\u00a0 Watch for an anejo<\/strong> coming in 2012.<\/p>\n
