Now 10 years down the line, how does this brand hold up to the scrutiny that is the <strong>TEQUILA WHISPERER<\/strong>?\u00a0 Watch and see!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TEQUILA Details:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>BRAND<\/strong>:<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.donfulano.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">DON FULANO<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>NOM:<\/strong> 1146<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>AGAVE SOURCE:<\/strong> HIGHLANDS<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.429403046158.218494.138496626158\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1884\" title=\"DF_BottlesLineup_01\" src=\"https:\/\/tequilawhisperer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DF_BottlesLineup_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"574\" height=\"459\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tequilawhisperer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DF_BottlesLineup_01.jpg 653w, https:\/\/tequilawhisperer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DF_BottlesLineup_01-300x240.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 574px) 100vw, 574px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">GENERAL TASTING NOTES:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From the hewn hand-blown glass bottles (with gorgeous \u201ccolor fades\u201d) to the hand-crafted juice contained within, <strong>Don Fulano<\/strong> is a brand that demonstrates a commitment to quality throughout the product line.\u00a0 This is one of the flagship brands from the large <strong>NOM 1146<\/strong> distillery located right in the heart of the town of Tequila.\u00a0 Your <strong>Tequila Whisperer<\/strong> has actually visited this distillery and has seen the massive column still where <strong>Don Fulano<\/strong> is made.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>blanco<\/strong> is wild combination of heat and spice with full rich notes of caramelized agave.\u00a0 The nose brings a touch of olive brine and mint, and the mouth feel is wonderfully oily and crisp. The <strong>\u201cFuerte\u201d<\/strong> variant of the <strong>blanco<\/strong> (at 100-proof!) features the same flavor components as the 80-proof <strong>blanco,<\/strong> but brings forth even more green agave along with the expected extra spiky alcohol heat.\u00a0 This over-proofed <strong>blanco<\/strong> is an excellent choice for mixing with a small amount of lime and just a touch of agave nectar to make a superb Margarita!<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>reposado<\/strong> continues most of the flavor notes and feel of the <strong>blanco<\/strong> while adding a more floral nose that reminded<strong> Th\u2019 Lip <\/strong>of an old girlfriend(!)\u00a0 The French Oak barrels used in aging add some cherry and a hint of chocolate to the taste combinations.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>anejo<\/strong> is aged close to 3 years in new and used French Oak barrels making this an almost <strong>\u201cExtra Anejo\u201d<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong> Lippy<\/strong> found a true promise fulfilled in the <strong>anejo<\/strong> as the fudgy flavors of the barrel played side by side with the rich agave and honey notes (still present and available in the 3-year!).\u00a0 Quite a feat.\u00a0 The<strong> Imperial<\/strong>, aged 5 years in new French Oak barrels, took a turn on the flavor highway.\u00a0 \u00a0It presented what <strong>Th\u2019 Lip<\/strong> calls, \u201ccologne spice\u201d to the flavor play.\u00a0 This additional flavor was quite masterfully held in check by the added notes of cinnamon and almond.\u00a0 Overall a very pleasing combination of \u201ctequila
