And this time <strong>Th\u2019 Lip<\/strong> has a secret weapon: he procured some rare, Mexican-bottled <strong>\u201cSquirt\u201d<\/strong> soda from which to make some KILLER <strong>\u201cPaloma\u201d <\/strong>cocktails \u2013 arguably the most popular tequila cocktail south of the Border!\u00a0 Mexican<strong> Squirt<\/strong> is notable for containing REAL Grapefruit\u00a0 juice and real SUGAR as opposed to it&#8217;s U.S. counterpart which features high-fructose corn syrup and less than 2% juice (blah!).\u00a0 Which repo in the battle will rise to the level of allowing itself to be used in this classic cocktail?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Yes we\u2019re all aware of <strong>El Ultimo Agave\u2019s<\/strong> prowess as a Master Agavero in these challenges, but there\u2019s no discounting the mighty <strong>Hornitos<\/strong> brand from the house of Sauza.\u00a0 It is their flagship \u201cpuro\u201d (100% agave) product, and they have a lot of history and pride to defend here.\u00a0 Will the mighty<strong> El Ultimo<\/strong> FINALLY meet his match?\u00a0 Watch and see!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1910\" title=\"DSCN0103\" src=\"https:\/\/tequilawhisperer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSCN0103-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tequilawhisperer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSCN0103-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/tequilawhisperer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSCN0103-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE NOTES:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Th\u2019 Lip<\/strong> approached this challenge with a completely open mind and a hankerin\u2019 for an upset in the making.\u00a0 Unfortunately the predictable became reality.\u00a0 The mighty<strong> El Ultimo Agav<\/strong>e reposado (NOM 1522) brings SO MUCH agave flavor to the taste party that it\u2019s a damned DIFFICULT repo to defeat.\u00a0 <strong>Hornitos<\/strong> reposado (NOM 1102) featured a VERY strong hit of black pepper in the nose.\u00a0 Perhaps the strongest pepper smell that <strong>Lippy<\/strong> has ever experienced in a tequila.\u00a0 Unfortunately it was paired with a strange banana tropical fruit sidekick that grew stronger in the mix as the repo was allowed to open up in the glass.\u00a0 The <strong>Chimayo <\/strong>reposado<strong> <\/strong>(NOM 1529) featured some outrageous alcohol burn and heat, prompting your <strong>TEQUILA WHISPERER<\/strong> to pronounce it completely off-limits to any newbie ladies in the crowd.
