private, disappointed moments.\u00a0 After tasting the current <strong>D Los Altos<\/strong>, your <strong>Tequila Whisperer<\/strong> cracks open a comparative <strong>Treasure Bottle<\/strong> of old <strong>D Los Altos blanco<\/strong> with VERY disappointing results.\u00a0 This episode is distinctly NOT for the faint of heart, or those with sensitive hearing!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>D Los Altos<\/strong> from about 10 years ago (NOM 1483) was a stellar, inexpensive brand that brought MOUNDS of soft mineral wetness along with a sweet herbal center.\u00a0 The brand has since changed distilleries at least 3 times (never a great sign).\u00a0 How does the current batch of<strong> D Los Altos<\/strong> (NOM 1529) taste?\u00a0 Watch &amp; see!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TEQUILA Details:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 572px) 100vw, 572px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">GENERAL TASTING NOTES:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>D Los Altos<\/strong> has always been an inexpensive surprise.\u00a0 It was always a great treat to taste such a stunning blanco for such a cheap price.\u00a0 Your <strong>Tequila Whisperer<\/strong> is happy to report that the brand is still quite inexpensive and is easily the best representation of this juice since the original NOM 1483 bottling 10+ years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>blanco<\/strong> presents \u00a0a thick, streamy gob of wetness that feels at once damp and musty.\u00a0 Look for a thick swath of caramelized yam (agave) flavors to compliment the wet, \u201cmop-like\u201d flavors in this <strong>blanco! <\/strong> Nice sweet-heat finish, too.\u00a0 Though<strong> Lippy <\/strong>originally described the taste as balanced, he came to find it a bit too one-dimensional for more than one glass during an overall tasting session.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>reposado<\/strong> was the biggest disappointment of all the age varietals.\u00a0 While the 9 months in American oak added a bit of sweetness, <strong>Th\u2019 Lip<\/strong> noticed a distinct toning down of most of the flavor profiles which made the <strong>blanco<\/strong> so interesting.\u00a0 Don\u2019t look for dampness or thick gobs of roasted agave here.\u00a0 Ultimately described as \u201cflaccid\u201d, the <strong>repo<\/strong> could have used more time in wood.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>anejo<\/strong> brought forth the promise that the <strong>repo<\/strong> never achieved.\u00a0 Aged 18 months in American oak, the <strong>anejo<\/strong> brought the complication of vanilla bean and coconut on the nose.\u00a0 Ultimately however, the <strong>anejo<\/strong> became a bit cloying in its aged spice attack and was relegated to 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">RECOMMENDED BUY:<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>D Los Altos blanco<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a
