Mezcal Expo!<\/a><\/strong> Come on along and bring your favorite (BIG) tasting vessel.\u00a0 Sip along as we review <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tequilaazulimperial.net\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Azul Imperial<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.micasatequila.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Mi Casa<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/tequilaalderete.com.mx\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Alderete<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tequiladonelias.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Don Elias<\/strong><\/a> tequilas.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montereytequilafest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2509\" title=\"ExpoLogo_02\" src=\"https:\/\/tequilawhisperer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/ExpoLogo_02-e1348861055882.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lippy<\/strong> rustled up some previous medal winners from past<strong> Monterey Expos<\/strong> and found his favorite age variant from all ages of the brands provided.\u00a0 This was an especially difficult choice because a few brands presented great juice in multiple ages of their product.\u00a0 Be that as it may, your intrepid <strong>Tequila Whisperer<\/strong> persevered through it all and came up with 4 Must-Taste tequilas for your sipping enjoyment. \u00a0\u00a0Whether you\u2019re traipsing through the <strong>Expo<\/strong> or enjoying these brands at home or at a party, there is something here to like for every age (and wallet) preference.\u00a0 Add to all of this the show\u2019s musical soundtrack is provided by the great <strong>Monterey Pop Festival<\/strong> from exactly 45 years ago.\u00a0 This is an episode you\u2019ll be singing along to!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Perfect-Haze-Illustrated-Monterey-International\/dp\/1595800603\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2508\" title=\"BackStage_02\" src=\"https:\/\/tequilawhisperer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/BackStage_02-e1348860988693.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"393\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong> Blanco:\u00a0 \u201cAzul Imperial\u201d (NOM 1549).<\/strong> <\/em> This <strong>blanco<\/strong> was an immediate favorite owing to its soft and \u201cround\u201d taste that brought forth a nice bottom end and a full load of rich, roasted agave.\u00a0 Additionally there was a very \u201cclean\u201d mouth feel allowing to this <strong>blanco<\/strong> to become an instant winner.\u00a0 What <strong>Th\u2019 Lip<\/strong> was NOT prepared for was its long and warm (NOT a commonplace occurrence).\u00a0 When sipping <strong>Azul Imperial<\/strong> make sure to leave a long time between sips as you\u2019ll want to savor that lingering finish!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Reposado: \u201cMi Casa\u201d (NOM 1499).<\/em><\/strong> Your <strong>Tequila Whisperer <\/strong>was impressed by both the <strong>repo<\/strong> AND the <strong>anejo<\/strong> of this family owned and operated brand.\u00a0 But ultimately it was the <strong>reposado<\/strong> that really shone in its even balance of sweet cinnamon coupled with a blanket of caramel oak.\u00a0 <strong>Lippy<\/strong> has tasted many brands that have been produced at the <strong>1499<\/strong> distillery, and can say without equivocation that <strong>Mi Casa<\/strong> is the richest tasting brand he\u2019s ever had from that factory.\u00a0 Enjoy this <strong>reposado<\/strong> &#8211; and after a few evenings with it, seek out its older <strong>anejo<\/strong> brother.\u00a0 You\u2019ll be in for an even more lush experience there.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Anejo: \u201cAlderete\u201d (NOM 1414).<\/strong> <\/em> Buckle up for this one, tasters!\u00a0 The <strong>Alderete anejo<\/strong> will take you on a deep, rich, and spicy ride through agave country.\u00a0 Your <strong>Tequila Whisperer<\/strong> was not prepared for such a rich experience from this <strong>anejo<\/strong>.\u00a0 It keeps the acidic tang of its <strong>blanco<\/strong> \u201cseed stock\u201d, but balances that sprightly agave note with thick slathers of menthol, mint, and vanilla!\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 There is a lot to like here, and you\u2019ll find yourself reaching for the bottle to refill your glass again and again.\u00a0 Nice going, <strong>Alderete<\/strong>.\u00a0 Welcome to <strong>Th\u2019 Lip\u2019s<\/strong> home bar!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Extra Anejo: \u201cDon Elias\u201d (NOM 1477).<\/em><\/strong> You like a sweet ride on your agave adventures? \u00a0Then look no further.\u00a0 This bargain-priced <strong>\u201cXA\u201d<\/strong> will lead you on a soft journey through tasting territory with stops on sugar hill and cologne-spice colonnade.
