Th’ Lip tasted all three age varieties of the new “Dulce Vida” 100 proof tequilas. As you know, the vast majority of U.S. tequilas have a 40% alcohol content (80 proof). The extra 10% alcohol increase really DOES change the mouth feel and affects the taste, though to a lesser degree. Surprise (not): these tequilas were WAY more spicy than their 80 proof counterparts, and that is EXACTLY what made them so engaging over the long run. Sweet spice attack on all ages of Dulce Vida. Blanco and anejo are taste standouts for their distinct profiles in courage! Repo, while not BAD, is simply a bit lackluster compared to the bold flavor statements made by it’s younger and older siblings. Add to this the fiery HEAT of the 100 proof and you have a superior “flask” brand for your travel needs!
